70% of operating agricultural companies destroyed in Donetsk Oblast, with losses exceeding US$120 million

There are currently 512 agricultural businesses in Donetsk Oblast, of which 353, or 69%, have suffered losses and destruction due to the full-scale Russian war.
Source: Ukrinform reports that Olena Rybakova, Deputy Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Complex and Land Resources of Donetsk Oblast State Administration, stated this at an online briefing.
Quote: “As of the beginning of 2022, 1,220 businesses were working in agriculture in Donetsk Oblast, and currently, 512 businesses are operating in the oblast. Of these 512 businesses, 353 have suffered damage and destruction, including farmsteads, fields, machinery, and everything,” Rybakova said.
She added that the total amount of losses at these businesses currently exceeds UAH 5 billion (US$ 120 million), “and this is only what can be calculated now”.
Background: The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has launched a mechanism to provide special subsidies for farmers working in the frontline oblasts.
