70% of Ukrainians consider EU support in fight against corruption ineffective

70% of Ukrainian respondents believe that the EU’s support for the fight against corruption in Ukraine is ineffective, while the majority of Ukrainians consider this area of European support to be the most relevant.

Details: The surveyʼs results show that the most relevant areas of support for Ukraine from the European Union are the fight against corruption (62%); aid to the liberated territories (43%); support in the investigation of war crimes (38%) and support for fair justice (31%).
21% of respondents consider support for consultations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU relevant.
At the same time, despite the fact that the vast majority of Ukrainians emphasise the greatest relevance of the fight against corruption, only 24% of respondents consider EU support in this area effective. 70% of respondents called it ineffective.
The survey also shows that the majority of respondents, 48%, assess the EU support in the liberated territories positively. The EU support in the investigation of war crimes is considered effective by 38% of respondents.
According to the survey, 74% of respondents consider fighting corruption to be the most important reform.
36% of respondents named national security, defence, and judicial reforms the most important, while 10% named police and customs reforms the most important.
The survey was conducted from 24 to 29 September 2024 at the request of the EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine by the method of telephone interviews using a computer. The sample size was 2,000 respondents, and the margin of error was 2.2%.
Background:
- It was reported that over 80% of Ukrainians would vote in favour of Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO if such a referendum was held in the near future.
- The survey conducted by the Razumkov Centre’s sociological service from 19 to 25 January shows that 84% of Ukrainians supported Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
