Family members, friends and fans of late Hong Kong singer Coco Lee have paid their final respects to the star, who died last month at the age of 48.
A private funeral service was held at the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point on Tuesday morning after memorial services on Monday evening.
Following Tuesday’s ceremony, Lee’s coffin was transported to the Cape Collinson Crematorium in Chai Wan for cremation.
In a video played before Monday’s memorial services, actors and singers from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau recalled their memories of Lee and bade her farewell. Among them were action star Jackie Chan and filmmaker Ang Lee, who directed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the soundtrack for which Coco Lee sang A Love Before Time.
She performed the song at the Academy Awards in 2001, becoming the first person of Chinese descent to perform at the Oscars.
Her sisters Nancy and Carol Lee announced her death following a suicide attempt on July 5. “CoCo had been suffering from depression for a few years but her condition deteriorated drastically over the last few months,” they wrote on social media.
