The European Commission said that its annual report on enlargement will be presented around 8 November, but this date is not fixed and may change.

Quote from Mamer: “As you know, the agenda of the meeting of the College of Commissioners is set by the heads of the cabinets [of the European Commissioners – ed.], usually two days before the meeting of the College. We have a list online… you can see what time the presentation of the report is scheduled for, and it’s 8 November, if I’m not mistaken.”

Details: However, the spokesperson noted that this date is not confirmed yet.

“This date may change; it depends on the decision of the heads of the cabinets, they have to set the final date… This is just an indication, it is not a promise,” he added.

In its report, the EU executive is expected to recommend the start of formal negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

The final “green light” to start accession talks will be given not by the European Commission, but by the member states, which are to give their unanimous consent.

Background

Currently, Ukraine has not completed the seven criteria and is persistently failing to implement one of the EU recommendations that several states consider vital – the legislation on PEPs.
