A total of 41% of Americans believe that the US is doing too much to support Ukraine, and this figure has increased significantly since June 2023, when it was 29%.

Details: 25% of Americans believe that the United States does not support Ukraine enough in the fight against Russian aggression. Last year, this figure was 38%.

The share of those who believe that the support is sufficient has decreased over the same period from 43% to 33%.

Gallup stated that in August 2022, a majority of Americans (66%) believed that the United States should support Ukraine in liberating its former territory, even if it leads to a protracted conflict. This opinion has weakened slightly, as 54% of Americans now hold this view.

43% support the US trying to help end the war quickly, even if it means that Ukraine will cede its territory to Russia.

Sociologists also point to the growing scepticism of the Republican Party about helping Ukraine: 62% of Republicans are more likely to believe that the US is doing too much, compared to 43% in August 2022. Among Democrats, the share of sceptics has increased slightly, too – from 9% to 14%.

When asked whether the United States should support Ukraine financially for as long as Ukraine needs it, without financial limits, 37% of Gallup respondents said yes. At the same time, the numbers differ depending on political preferences. For example, 14% of Republicans, 35% of independents, and 65% of Democrats agreed with the statement.

Among all Gallup respondents, 20% believe that Ukraine is winning the war, 14% believe that Russia is winning, and 64% believe that neither side is winning.
