After last week’s news of the loss of several Russian long-range SA-21 (S-400) anti-aircraft missile systems, Russia may have to redeploy its strategic air defence assets.

Details: UK intelligence said the new analysis suggests that in order to maintain coverage over Ukraine, Russia may have to redeploy anti-aircraft missile systems that usually protect remote parts of Russia.
Russia’s main long-range air defence systems, such as SA-21s (S-400s), are capable of hitting targets up to 400 kilometres away.
Quote: “The reallocation of strategic air defence assets would further demonstrate how the Ukraine conflict continues to overextend Russia’s military and strains its ability to retain baseline defences across its vast area.”
Background: Earlier, the UK Ministry of Defence stressed that Russia has long prioritised powerful, high-tech, long-range air defence systems as a key component of its military strategy.
The previous review noted that sabotage of railways by anti-war activists continues to be a serious problem for Russia.
