Details: Kostin said that they discussed legislative initiatives that are crucial for Ukraine’s fight for justice, including a bill to restore economic prosperity and opportunities for Ukrainians aimed at seizing Russian sovereign assets, as well as a resolution condemning Russia’s abduction of Ukrainian children.

Quote from Kostin: “We are all aware that the free world is at a critical point, and we must be united as never before to stop Russia and ensure that the Kremlin regime is held fully accountable.”

More details: He stressed that this is why the US Presidential Administration’s request for additional funding to help Ukraine is vital, expressing hope for the support of the senators in this matter.

In addition, the Prosecutor General said, together with the senators, they considered the possibility of introducing legislative initiatives to address the illegal detention of Ukrainian civilians by Russia.

Background:

  • Earlier, the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs supported a bill to use confiscated Russian assets to help Ukraine. The bill is now to be considered by the US Congress.
  • As reported, the Czech government supported the proposal of Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský to freeze all Russian state assets on Czech territory.
  • Prior to that, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the European Union was approaching a decision on a common legal mechanism for using frozen Russian assets in favour of Ukraine.
