Japan to provide Ukraine with another €160 million for economic recovery

Japan intends to provide Ukraine with €160 million to support economic recovery projects.

Details: Shmyhal met with Kiyoto Tsuji, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Kazuchika Iwata, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, and representatives of Japanese business.

Quote from Shmyhal: “I told them our priorities for rapid recovery: energy, housing, critical infrastructure, humanitarian mine clearance and business support. I am grateful to the Japanese delegation for today’s mission, which will facilitate further involvement of Japanese companies in the reconstruction.”

More details: The Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine is interested in establishing joint ventures, especially in the processing industry and in cooperation in the areas of agriculture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, critical raw materials and IT.

And Japan’s experience in post-war recovery can be useful for Ukraine’s economic recovery.

Background: It was reported in October that Ukraine would soon receive transformers and solar panels from Japanese partners.
