Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umierov has stated that he has had a fruitful video conversation with his Latvian counterpart, Andris Sprūds.

Details: The Ukrainian official says they discussed possible asymmetric responses to Russia on the battlefield and ways to further deepen defence cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia, especially on UAVs.
“Grateful to our Latvian friends for their unwavering military and political support,” Umierov stressed.

Background:
- On 24 November, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit.
- Earlier, Rinkēvičs stated that the EU and NATO countries should increase their defence industry capacities in order to produce the necessary armament for themselves and Ukraine.
- Earlier, Daiga Mieriņa, Speaker of the Latvian parliament, noted that the defeat of Russia on the battlefield must be ensured.
