Details: Russian mercenaries offer women to “make a career” in sniper work, medicine, communications, assault units, electronic warfare units, signals intelligence units, and UAV operation.
The publication’s journalist, under the guise of a candidate, learned about the conditions offered in the military formation. In particular, the first contract is drawn up for six months, of which training lasts from one to two months. Payment is RUB 110,000-120,000 (about US$1,240-1,360).
After that, the woman who signed the contract is sent to the combat zone, and then the amount of the payment increases by two times. When signing the first contract, a one-time payment of RUB 50,000 (approximately US$564) is provided.
If a female volunteer is injured, she receives 1 to 3 million roubles (about US$11,300 to US$33,800), and in case of death, her relatives will receive RUB 5 million.
The second contract is drawn up for a period of three months and is negotiated individually.
The contract is signed with the Redut PMC, which allows for an immediate signing. “The order of the Ministry of Defence on the validity of contracts until the end of the special military operation [as the war against Ukraine is called in Russia – ed.] does not apply to us,” the publication was told.
Background: In October 2022, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Russian Federation formed nine reserve regiments for the war against Ukraine. Shoigu said that the Russians had recruited many female volunteers. These are “doctors, medical workers”, Shoigu said.
