Details: According to DOU, this spring Quantum-Systems opened a Service, Support, Training and Logistics Centre (SSTLC) in Ukraine.
“This facility began training Vector drone operators, and the Centre also became a new location for the repair and purchase of spare parts,” the statement said.
And in the summer, Quantum-Systems said that they would not open new offices, representative offices or R&D centres in Ukraine, instead planning to focus more on developing their own production department.
It is noted that the development of Quantum-Systems, the Vector UAV, can take off and land vertically, has a low-noise engine and has an encrypted IP connection that transmits a video stream. The company cooperates with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine: hundreds of such drones have already been delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (the exact numbers are classified).
The day before, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine reported that Quantum-Systems had joined the Diia.City space. [Diia.City is a unique legal and tax space for IT companies in Ukraine.]
“Recently, the company responded to the call of the Ukrainian government to establish production in Ukraine. Therefore, the residency in Diia.City will help the company create facilities in Ukraine for the production of drones and the launch of an R&D centre,” the ministry explained.
According to Berezhnyi, much of the work of the Ukrainian SSTLC Centre since April 2023 has been related to R&D, so the company decided to create a separate department for development and research.
“The Ukrainian R&D division will grow, and it will combine software and hardware engineering. What kind of specialists we will be looking for, I can’t say yet.
For security reasons, I cannot say where exactly the R&D unit will be located, but it will work on the basis of the SSTLC Centre. In addition, I cannot disclose the exact number of drone operators that we have already trained, because in this way, we will help the enemy understand how many aircraft are in operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, I should note that we are doing this very quickly and we are talking about several dozen operators every month,” he added.
The Country Chief Operational Officer of the company said that in 2024 spare parts for Vector drones will be produced in Ukraine, and in 2025 they plan to fully assemble these UAVs.
“To implement these plans, we rented a space of several thousand square metres for our production, research and development teams. We plan that about 40 specialists will work on this project, “he said.
