Details: Tamm said that the Ukrainians had created an effective multi-level air defence system that can successfully shoot down Russian drones, even if they arrive in large groups.

“Since there has been talk lately of drawing on Ukraine’s experience in repelling drone attacks, I think the next step for us is to create something like mobile teams,” Tamm explained.

In his opinion, the main thing in this process will be to establish communication to receive operational information about the air-raid warning.

“The Russians are launching their drones en masse, hoping that some of this group of drones will break through,” Tamm said.

Among the other tasks of the Estonian Defence League under his command, Tamm mentioned the protection of critical facilities and the creation of checkpoints, as well as the development of networks for reporting suspicious circumstances related to enemy actions.

Background:

  • The Estonian Defence League will begin training drone operators as part of public procurement, as well as practice combat operations in the context of enemy drone use.
  • The Estonian army also plans to create a unit that will focus exclusively on the use of kamikaze drones, taking into account the experience of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
