Pravda Ukraine

Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine called the discovery of bugging devices in the office of Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi a “resonant event”.

Source: Andrii Yusov, representative of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, on the air of the national 24/7 newscast

Quote: “This is a resonant event and counterintelligence agencies, – the SSU [Security Service of Ukraine – ed.], among others, – must investigate and establish the truth in this situation.

The war continues and the enemy is trying in a variety of ways to get information, to study our plans. Because such tools are always cheaper and save a huge part of the resources on the battlefield.”

Background:

On 17 December, Ukrainska Pravda sources reported that bugging devices had been found in the offices of Valerii Zaluzhnyi and some of his staff. The rooms were supposed to be the new office of the commander-in-chief, and were being checked before the move.

The Security Service of Ukraine stated that a technical device, which was not in working order, had been found in one of the potential locations for Valerii Zaluzhnyi’s office. Law enforcement officers opened a criminal investigation.

Zaluzhnyi himself does not consider the detection of bugging devices in his office to be putting any pressure on him, and he does not think that state secrets could have been discussed in that office.
