Details: The Polish minister emphasised that the border on the Polish side is also the border of the European Union, and that various discussions on distinct topics of negotiation will take place in conjunction with the start of EU negotiations with Ukraine.

Solskyi accepted Siekierski’s offer to set up expert-level technical talks and stated that Ukraine was prepared to hold them at any moment.

Quote: “The basis of all relations is conversation, dialogue in finding solutions that are favourable for economic cooperation, which is important both for you and for us, and is the fundamental value of the European Union,” the Polish minister emphasised.

The Ukrainian ministry also indicated that they proposed to hold a ministerial meeting in Kyiv or on the Polish-Ukrainian border.

In September 2023, the European Commission lifted restrictions on import of Ukrainian agricultural products to five eastern EU countries, which was introduced due to complaints from local farmers. But three states – Poland, Slovakia and Hungary – announced unilateral restrictions on Ukrainian imports for certain types of products in response.

At the same time, the European Commission observes no adverse effects of Ukrainian agricultural imports on European markets.
