Ukraine’s Olympic Committee chooses best athletes of 2023, amongst them Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh

The best athletes and coaches of the year were chosen by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine (NOC); Ukrainian swimmer Oleksandr Zheltiakov was named the best young athlete, and Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh was named the best athlete.

The title of best young athlete of 2023 was bestowed upon Oleksandr Zheltiakov, the two-time world and European champion in swimming among juniors and winner of the Olympic standard (at distances of 100 and 200 metres on the back);
The best young athlete coach of 2023 is Oleksandr Kulyk, the personal trainer of Oleksandr Zheltiakov.”
Details: The Central Sports Club of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Athletics Federation of Ukraine will receive awards for the training of Mahuchikh.
Based on the outcomes of performances at major international Olympic sports competitions, the NOC Expert Commission selected the best athletes and coaches of the year.
Mahuchikh successfully defended her Diamond League title in 2023, won the gold medal at the European Athletics Indoor Championship, and made history as the world champion. Tetiana Stepanova, who works with the 22-year-old athlete, received recognition as coach of the year.
