Details: The wreckage fell 300 metres away from the cage.

Nataliia Popova, head of the centre, said in a comment for Ukrainska Pravda.Zhyttia that a 2-year-old African lioness Yuna got shell-shocked.

“At first there was a very bright light, and then too much fire and smoke. Yuna was the only one outside. The fragment landed in the field, there was not even a single tree between the site of the strike and the cage,” she revealed.

Nataliia said she was the first one to see the lioness after the attack.

“At the moment Yuna’s coordination is disrupted, and she cannot rise on her feet. Medics prescribed treatment but gave no forecasts,” Nataliia stated.

Other animals are scared but do not experience such serious consequences as Yuna. They were inside at the time of the attack.

Nataliia says that up until today Yuna had no health problems. Preparations were being made to send her to Europe – the documents were almost ready.

“Yuna was saved in Kyiv Oblast. She was living in a small cage with a lion. The lion treated her harshly so she was stressed. When we rescued them both, they had frostbite as they were living on the concrete without any cover. These are African animals who are not adapted to our winters.

Even though we separated them, Yuna was stressed for a long time after that. Yet before today she had completely recovered and was healthy,” Nataliia added.
