Polish Prime Minister believes Europe is target of potential Russian aggression

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk assumes that Europe as a whole needs to be militarily stronger than Russia in order to defend its own borders because, from a strategic standpoint, Russia is targeting Europe.

Details: Tusk announced that a Security Committee would be set up under the government to deal with improving the security of Poland’s borders, “especially airspace,” and “strengthening the eastern flank with the participation of our allies.”
Quote: “We have already prepared such an initiative with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski – a call to take into account the needs of the European arms industry in order to support Ukraine as soon as possible, not least because almost the entire Russian economy has already switched to a system of military weapons [production] and Europe is lagging far behind,” Tusk added.
He said the idea is to “mobilise, using available diplomatic means and persuasion, so that the whole EU understands that without radically increased efforts in the field of armaments, we will be left far behind.”
“That would mean one thing: Europe would be vulnerable to a direct Russian attack in the next few years. No one can doubt that from a strategic perspective, Europe is the target of Russian aggression, and this will happen when Russia’s superiority is obvious in terms of military capabilities,” said the head of the Polish government.
Therefore, Tusk said, “the absolute need of the moment in connection with the Ukrainian situation is that Europe as a whole should be stronger militarily than Russia, and this is the only way to protect European and Polish borders.”
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called for tougher sanctions against Russia to prevent Moscow from creating new weapons from smuggled components and to provide Kyiv with long-range missiles that would allow Ukraine to destroy launch sites and command posts.
