100 people to evacuate from near Sevastopol – occupation authorities in Crimea

Around 100 people, including 15 children, are being evacuated due to the destruction of a missile in the village of Chornorichchia, near Sevastopol.

Details: The removal of the explosive object will begin early on 5 January.
Background:
- Explosions rang out in the temporarily occupied town of Saky in Crimea on 4 January, and the Russians have reported an “attack”.
- There are also reports of explosions near Sevastopol and Novorossiysk. A photo of the alleged air defence response in Novorossiysk, in Russia’s south, is posted on social media.
- On 4 January, explosions were reported in Yevpatoriia and Sevastopol, two cities in temporarily occupied Crimea. Russia’s Defence Ministry is claiming that 10 missiles were destroyed over the peninsula.
- The Strategic Communications Directorate of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that at around 15:00 on 4 January, the Defence Forces hit a command post of the Russian occupation forces near Sevastopol.
- The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that air defence destroyed and intercepted 36 UAVs over Crimea.
