Quote: “Our information shows that there are already about 50,000 Russians and citizens of Central Asian countries in temporarily occupied Mariupol.”

Details: The Special Operations Forces say that in the temporarily occupied city, there are at most only half as many people as before the full-scale invasion. Therefore, the occupying authorities aim to attract migrant workers from disadvantaged regions of Russia and Central Asian countries to accelerate the assimilation of the Ukrainian population.

The representative added that Russia is actively transporting criminals from both Russia and Central Asian countries to expand its influence. There are reports that ethnicity-based criminal gangs are being formed among migrants.

In addition, workers from Belarus have been spotted in Mariupol and the temporarily occupied parts of Kherson Oblast.
