David Cameron, UK Foreign Secretary, has stated that London must do everything possible in order to unite other countries to help Ukraine and stop the narrative about the stalemate in the war.

Quote: “[Russian President Vladimir] Putin has suffered a huge strategic defeat, and we need to stop the narrative about the stalemate [on the battlefield on Ukraine], or the time not being on Ukraine’s side.”
Details: Cameron noted that the economy of the UK is 25 times stronger than Russia’s so it can certainly demonstrate that time is on the partners’ side, not on Putin’s side.
The Minister added that he would try to convince Donald Trump of this if he returns to the White House. He also stated that he is concerned about Ukraine the most, “because for me, it is the challenge to our generation”.
“It is like in the 1930s when we did not do enough to stop the aggression (of Nazi Germany)… Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is the most telling example of one’s state’s invasion of the other,” Cameron stressed.
Rejecting the claims of the Parliamentary Committee for Intelligence and Security that the UK “severely underestimated” the threat from Russia’s side while being the PM in 2010-2016, Cameron said that London was a leader in calling for the implementation of the sanctions against Russia after Putin’s invasion of Crimea in 2014.
“Then it was a far more complex argument due to a certain confusion around what was happening in Ukraine in the political dimension (after then-President Yanukovych fled to Russia). But I was not confused…It was clear that it was an invasion but it was aggravated because there were other European countries that did not want to implement the sanctions and put pressure on Russia,” Cameron admitted.
Background: Earlier, Grant Shapps, Minister of Defence of the UK, stated that the West must facilitate Russia’s defeat in Ukraine, otherwise it runs a risk of being attacked by other dictatorship regimes like China.
Shapps announced the beginning of the new era – the era of the pre-war world – in his speech on 16 January.
The head of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer called for the transformation of the Alliance’s combat readiness in the era of unpredictability during which “anything” can happen.
