Details: Zelenskyy thanked members of Congress for approving the package bill, which includes US$60 billion in support for Ukraine, and noted that Ukraine is counting on further US leadership.

“We are grateful to the President of the United States and both parties for your decisions, support and assistance. You make the necessary decisions at critical moments. We count on the United States, on all Americans,” Zelenskyy stated.

Zelenskyy also briefed the senators on Ukraine’s priority defence needs, including additional artillery systems and ammunition, long-range weapons, electronic warfare assets, and strengthening air defence.

In addition, he praised the initiatives that will limit Russia’s resources for warfare and bring the confiscation of frozen Russian assets in favour of Ukraine closer.

Zelenskyy also met with US Vice President Kamala Harris on the sidelines of the Munich conference.

Speaking to the press after the talks, the Ukrainian president indicated that Congress’s decision on funding for further aid to Ukraine is now a crucial and vital issue, adding that Kyiv does not consider the complicated situation with this bill a “betrayal” and expects the problem to be resolved.

Harris, for her part, stressed that the issue of aid to Ukraine should not be turned into a political game and that the US “is only looking at Plan A“.

Background: The US House of Representatives went on recess until the end of February without considering the package bill with funding for Ukraine that had already been passed in the Senate.

The House also introduced a bill with less aid for Ukraine than the amount proposed by US President Joe Biden.
