Quote: “The Defence Ministry’s recruitment campaign, which has just started and so far covers a limited range of military specialisms, has demonstrated that there is no general lack of understanding.
The Ministry has received over 90,000 applications for almost 8,000 vacancies.
Concerning the number of mobilised people, it must be stated right away that for security reasons we cannot disclose the exact number of people needed by the Defence Forces. 400,000-500,000 is a rough estimate depending on the situation in the combat zone and cannot be achieved right away.”
Details: The Defence Ministry says the process of strengthening the armed forces is ongoing, and it is also essential in order to relieve those soldiers who have been defending Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.
The Defence Ministry also commented on calls to send police officers and members of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) to the combat zone. It explained that the SSU has both its own combat units, which engage in combat action directly on the contact line, and units that plan and carry out operations to strike the Russians in the rear. The SSU also works to combat espionage.
Quote: “In general, calls to send police officers and members of the Security Service of Ukraine are, sadly, only made speculatively in order to spread the opinion that defending Ukraine is not the obligation of all its citizens, but only the task of particular groups of society.”
