Ukrainian forces spokesman reveals effects of downing Russian fighter jets

The Tavriia front has seen the smallest number of Russian airstrikes in the last 10 days.

Quote: “I’ve talked before about the tendency to see a reduction in the number of Russian airstrikes, and therefore their use of guided aerial bombs, after a Russian Su-type fighter jet is downed. Over the past day, this tendency has been confirmed once again: the enemy launched 17 airstrikes, the smallest number in the last 10 days.

So it’s clear that downing Russian fighter jets has an impact, thanks to our air defence. This is also why the enemy is achieving no significant results or advances in the ground offensive – because air support is weakening, the use of guided aerial bombs is decreasing, fewer Ukrainian positions and fewer houses in populated areas  are being destroyed.

This is a complex process in which the Russians can conduct a slower offensive and it reaches a stalemate, and one reason for this is the reduction in their air support because our air defence is working better.”

Details: Lykhovii noted that 38 combat actions occurred in the Tavriia Operational Strategic Group’s area of responsibility on 13 March from the beginning of the day until 18:00, which is more than two-thirds of all clashes along the front line.

Background: In February and early March, the Ukrainian Air Force managed to destroy more than 10 Russian fighter jets, mainly Su-34s, which terrorise frontline regions by dropping guided aerial bombs on them.
