Two-thirds of citizens in NATO member countries believe that their governments should continue to support Ukraine.

Source: European Pravda, citing the results of the survey commissioned by the Alliance announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during the presentation of the annual report with an assessment of the situation.

Stoltenberg noted that public opinion surveys show high support for further aid to Ukraine.

“Across the alliance fully two-thirds of people want to continue supporting Ukraine. This matters because NATO Alliance provides 99% of all military aid,” said the Secretary General.

He recalled that during 2023, allies continued to provide Ukraine with various military assistance, and some countries for the first time provided long-range missiles and decided to transfer F-16 fighter jets, and in general, last year launched a number of coalitions of allies to provide Ukraine with certain types of weapons.

Background:

  • The results of the same poll showed that only 13% of Americans would vote against joining NATO if they had to make such a decision at the time of the poll.
  • After the Pope’s scandalous statement that Ukraine should have the “courage of a white flag” and negotiate an end to the war, Stoltenberg replied that Ukraine needs weapons, not “white flags”.
