Ukraine’s Security Service conducts searches on pro-Russian archpriest

Pravda Ukraine

The Ukrainian Security Service conducted searches on Archpriest Mykola Danylevych, Deputy Head of the Synodal Department of External Church Relations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).

Source: a Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) source in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda

Details: The investigation has been underway since the morning of 12 April.

Danylevych was part of a delegation that, in 2017, persuaded Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew not to give Tomos (the decree that officially recognised and established the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and granted it autocephaly) to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, along with former MP Vadym Novynskyi.

According to the source, the archpriest was also marked by his support for the “Russian world” (the general idea of Russian Orthodoxy’s superiority in terms of culture, language, and so on, widely promoted by pro-Kremlin figures) and his justification of the Russian aggression.

Ukrainska Pravda also requested an official comment from the SSU.
