HKFP Lens: Revisiting Hong Kong’s old railways at the MTR’s new exhibition

To celebrate its 45th anniversary, the MTR Corporation is launching an exhibition, “Station Rail Voyage,” which showcases retired trains and over 100 railway artifacts at Hung Hom Station.

Running from next Wednesday to the end of the year, the exhibition presents retired trains including the “Yellow Head,” a locomotive which marked the start of the electrified service on the East Rail Line, train components, as well as a collection of historical artifacts.

“Visitors can get up close to different types of trains and listen to station announcements highlighting the Corporation’s operations around the world… visitors can even mimic station staff from different eras and capture memorable photos at the photo booth,” according to a statement.

Each visitor can collect a retro-style ticket card as a souvenir, or purchase MTR souvenirs and the limited edition “MTR Ticket Classic Album” specifically introduced for the exhibition.

The exhibition will be open to the public for free visits on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays by reservation. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance through the website from 10 am on April 20.
