Details: Lipavský promised to advocate for more support for Ukraine in its fight against the Russian Federation during the upcoming NATO ministers’ summit in Prague, Czechia.

Quote from Lipavský: “Friday – The Kremlin Tzar allegedly signals he wants peace.

Saturday – Bombs a hypermarket full of civilians.

Don’t buy into the Kremlin fairytales. At the NATO Ministerial Meeting in Prague, I will be asking my colleagues to step up the support to contain Russian imperialism.”

Background:

  • Russian forces struck an Epicentr home improvement hypermarket in Kharkiv on the afternoon of  Saturday, 25 May, killing two. Earlier, officials reported 24 casualties.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that up to 200 people might have been at the store at the time of the attack.
  • Western media are continuing to report that Russian leader Vladimir Putin has signalled interest in negotiating a ceasefire in Ukraine, even though the Kremlin’s rhetoric and Russia’s military activity suggest that Putin is not interested in meaningful negotiations and any settlement that would stand in his way of destroying the independent Ukrainian state.
