Russian leader Vladimir Putin has once again speculated on the possibility of a nuclear war and noted that it will “never come to that” due to the large number of casualties it would cause.

Details: Russian propagandist Sergei Karaganov asked Putin about the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons for a “quick victory” in Ukraine, as well as the possibility of it turning into a global nuclear war with the United States.

In response, Putin said that Russia’s tactical nuclear weapons are “three times more powerful than the bombs used by the Americans against Hiroshima and Nagasaki” and far exceed Europe’s atomic potential.

“The very same Europeans will have to think if those with whom we will exchange such strikes cease to exist, will the Americans get involved in this exchange of strikes at the level of strategic weapons or not? I doubt it very much,” he added.

The Russian leader went on to say that Moscow is far superior to the “enemy” even without nuclear weapons, so “we don’t need to consider this topic”.

“But I still proceed from the fact that it will never come to this [the use of nuclear weapons – ed.], and we have no such need,” Vladimir Putin concluded.
