In addition, Kuleba and Borrell coordinated efforts to increase and galvanise the supply of weapons to Ukraine “with an emphasis on air defence systems and ammunition”.
Background:
- On the evening of 14 June, the permanent representatives of the European Union member states accepted the main talking points of the negotiating framework for Ukraine’s and Moldova’s accession.
- The EU ambassadors’ decision means that an intergovernmental conference will be held on 25 June, as planned, to officially begin negotiations on Ukraine and Moldova’s accession to the EU.
- Hungary, at the level of permanent representatives, blocked the decision, saying that Ukraine had made “insufficient progress on national minorities”. However, Budapest lifted its veto after receiving assurances that its demands would be included in the negotiating framework.
