Russian Defence Ministry claims 120 Ukrainian drones destroyed over Crimea and Russia

The Russian Defence Ministry has claimed that they intercepted and destroyed 114 Ukrainian drones over temporarily occupied Crimea and two Russian oblasts, and six unmanned surface vehicles in the Black Sea on the night of 20-21 June.

Quote: “Air defence systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 70 UAVs over the territory of Crimea and the Black Sea, 43 UAVs over Krasnodar Krai and 1 UAV over Volgograd Oblast. Russian naval aviation destroyed six Ukrainian unmanned surface vehicles in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.”
Details: The Russian Defence Ministry did not provide any information about drones that were not downed or any other consequences.
Previously: Russian media reported a large-scale drone attack in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai. A fire was visible near the air base in Yeysk, which the Russians use frequently to attack Ukraine.
Mikhail Razvozhayev, the so-called “governor” of Sevastopol, claimed that Ukrainian drones attacked the city in the morning of 21 June.
Background:
- On 20 June, Russian Telegram channels reported that drones attacked the Afipsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai and an oil depot in the Russian republic of Adygea. Later, Murat Kumpilov, Head of the Republic of Adygea, confirmed this information.
- Later, Maksim Yegorov, Governor of Russia’s Tambov Oblast, reported that drones attacked two districts and a fire broke out at one oil depot. Russian Telegram channels published photos and videos of fires.
- Meanwhile, Kremlin-aligned Russian news agency RIA Novosti claimed that Russian air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed 15 Ukrainian drones overnight over the Republic of Adygea, Krasnodar Krai, Bryansk, Rostov, Belgorod and Oryol oblasts.
- Later, an Ukrainska Pravda source in the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) said that were drones of the SSU that struck a fuel and lubricants depot of Tambovnafteprodukt and a petroleum base of LLC LUKOIL-Yugnefteprodukt in the settlement of Enem, Republic of Adygea, Russia, on the night of 19-20 June.
