Latvian government to allocate €100 000 for funding of Ukrainian medical institutions

On 16 July, the Latvian government approved the allocation of €100,000 for the support of the operation of Ukrainian medical facilities.

Details: The adopted document authorises the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make a contribution on behalf of Latvia in order to support the operation of Ukrainian medical facilities.
The funds will be spent on their reconstruction and supplying medical equipment, as well as on their operation and the treatment of patients.
Moreover, the Ministry of Health of Latvia, jointly with its Ukrainian colleagues and the two embassies, collects the information about urgent needs in medicine, medical products and equipment and works on the organisation of another batch of donations for Ukrainian medical institutions.
Background:
- A few days ago, Latvia transferred €1 million for the rebuilding of the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in the city of Kyiv.
- Remi Duflot, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine stated that the EU would help Ukraine to rebuild Okhmatdyt.
