Ukrainian rowers reach the final in the 500m double sculls

Ukrainian rowers Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok have reached the finals of the 500m double sculls at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Details: The Ukrainians finished third, giving way to Canadians and Hungarians. The time of the Ukrainian pair was 1:55.62 minutes. The final of the competition will take place today, at 13:40 Kyiv time.
Luzan and Rybachok are the silver medallists of the 2020 Olympics (held in 2021) in this discipline. Moreover, Liudmyla won bronze in the 200-metre single sculls at the 2020 Tokyo Games. The semi-final fixture with the Ukrainian athletes will take place on Friday, 9 August.
Both Ukrainians have previously qualified for the semi-finals of the 2024 Olympic Games in the women’s single sculls. They both finished first in their respective quarter-final races: Rybachok covered 200 metres in 47.11 seconds, while Luzan finished in 47.42.
Ukraine’s Oleh Kukharyk and Ihor Trunov have recently failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the men’s slalom double kayak. Viktoriia Us also failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the kayak cross, despite being second throughout the race. Earlier, she could not secure an Olympic medal in the rowing slalom, and before that, she failed to qualify for the kayak finals.
