About 26,000 people, including 1,076 children, remain in the frontline city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast, which is being attacked by Russian forces.

Source: Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, on the national joint 24/7 newscast on Wednesday, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine

Quote: “There are now 26,000 people and 1,076 children in the city. I want to remind you that a month ago there were twice as many – over 40,000 people. That means more than 20,000 people have left in a month.”

Details: Filashkin noted that over 90% of the institutions providing services to the general public in the city are now closed. However, he emphasised that family doctors, small shops and pharmacies, and ATMs continue to operate.

He said that almost all the children have been evacuated from Myrnohrad in Donetsk Oblast. There are no more than 50 left in the city.

Filashkin also noted that there are still 1,700 people left in Toretsk. He stressed that it is very difficult to bring humanitarian aid into the city, as the Russians bombard all access roads.

He said the Ukrainian defence forces continue to do everything possible to hold back the Russians.

Quote: “In the area of Pokrovsk, our defence forces have held back the occupiers… Sabotage and reconnaissance groups enter the city of Toretsk, but our defence forces defeat them and push them out of the city.”

Background: The Pokrovsk front is currently one of the most intense areas on the line of contact. Dozens of combat clashes take place there every day.
