Satellite reveals destruction of 58 arsenal buildings, railway and train in Russia’s Tver Oblast

New satellite images of the 23rd arsenal belonging to the Main Artillery Directorate of Russia’s Defence Ministry, located near the village of Oktyabrsky in Tver Oblast, have shown that over 58 storage buildings, several open areas with ammunition, the railway and trains loaded with ammunition had been destroyed.

Details: Following the Ukrainian drone attack on 21 September on the ammunition arsenal in Oktyabrsky, a fire and detonation occurred, leading to a federal motorway being closed to traffic and the evacuation of a nearby station in Tver Oblast.
The satellite images reveal significant damage to the northern part of the depot.
Over 58 storage buildings and several open ammunition areas were reduced to ashes or heavily damaged.
The areas used for loading ammunition onto trains were also affected.
OSINT analysts suggested that trains loaded with ammunition were present during the strike.
Background:
- Over the past week, there have been two strikes on ammunition depots in Russia’s Tver Oblast.
- A fire and detonation occurred in the town of Toropets in Russia’s Tver Oblast, following a drone attack on the night of 17-18 September. Igor Rudenya, the governor of Tver Oblast, ordered a partial evacuation of the population.
- Later, it was reported that drones from the Security Service of Ukraine, Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Special Operations Forces successfully attacked a large warehouse belonging to the Russian Ministry of Defence’s Main Missile and Artillery Directorate in the Russian town of Toropets in Tver Oblast.
- The source reported that the warehouse stored missiles intended for Iskander tactical missile systems, Tochka-U tactical missile systems, guided aerial bombs and artillery ammunition.
- On 21 September, drones attacked another ammunition depot in the village of Oktyabrsky in Tver Oblast.
