Background:
- The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries have reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s attacks on its energy infrastructure and called on the international community to increase aid to Ukraine.
- Top European diplomat Josep Borrell said that Russia is trying to disrupt Ukraine’s energy infrastructure ahead of winter to leave Ukraine in darkness and cold, so Kyiv’s Western allies should increase the supply of air defence equipment to Ukraine.
