Ukraine and Hungary plan to hold a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission by the end of the year.

The minister noted that during the talks with Szijjártó, they coordinated further steps for developing border infrastructure, which will facilitate trade and economic relations between the two countries.

“In this context, it is important to hold another meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission. My colleague and I agreed on this,” Ukraine’s Foreign Minister stated.

Sybiha also emphasised that one of Ukraine’s key priorities is integration into the EU, so Kyiv is counting on “further support from Hungary” on this path, both during its current EU presidency and beyond, particularly regarding support for the simultaneous opening of negotiation clusters.

Background:

  • Sybiha arrived in Budapest on Monday for discussions on, among other things, the protection of minority rights and Ukraine’s progress toward EU and NATO membership.
  • Recently, Hungary joined discussions on the “peace plan” initiated by China and Brazil, despite criticism from Ukraine for not discussing this decision with Kyiv.
