Background:
- On the afternoon of October 1, Vadym Filashkin, the Head of Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, stated that Russian troops were near the centre of Vuhledar, and fighting was ongoing. At that time, 107 residents remained in the city, making it extremely difficult to deliver humanitarian aid.
- On September 26, DeepState co-founder Ruslan Mikula said that the loss of Vuhledar, where Ukrainian forces had held back Russian advances for over two years, was a matter of days, possibly weeks.
