Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has commented on the ruling Georgian Dream party’s election banners, which compare war-damaged buildings in Ukraine with restored buildings in Georgia.

Details: The Georgian Premier believes that fellow Georgians were unaware of what was happening in Ukraine and that his party’s election banners “exposed” the truth about the situation in Ukraine.

The prime minister says “specific actors”, such as opponents of the government, politicians and NGOs, are concerned about the banners.

Quote Irakli Kobakhidze: “In fact, the public did not have full and adequate information about what is happening in Ukraine, and these billboards… expose the lies. Because of this, people who tried to present the situation in Ukraine as desirable for Georgian society are worried.”

The Georgian Dream’s election adverts scare voters with images of the war in Ukraine as something that Georgia will face if they vote for opposition parties.

Background: The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called it unacceptable for the ruling party of Georgia to use images of the aftermath of Russia’s war against Ukraine in its political advertising.
