Details: Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Levente Magyar, at Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry on 18 October.
The meeting was held “in continuation of the constructive dialogue between the parties”.
In a communiqué, Ukraine noted that Sybiha and Magyar had discussed key issues of bilateral relations and stressed the need to develop Ukrainian-Hungarian ties in the spirit of good neighbourliness.
Background:
- In September, after being appointed foreign minister, Andrii Sybiha visited Budapest and held talks with his Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó, as part of his regional tour.
- After the talks, Sybiha announced that he and his Hungarian counterpart had noted “positive dynamics” in resolving the issue of national minorities.
- Following the visit, Kyiv and Budapest also announced that they planned to hold a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission by the end of the year.
