The government-backed initiative I Want to Live urges North Korean soldiers not to support Russia’s criminal regime and to surrender as prisoners of war.

Details: The message, released in both Russian and Korean, highlights that the I Want to Live project assures North Korean soldiers that, regardless of how many troops Pyongyang sends to assist Russia or on which front, Ukrainian prisoner-of-war camps are ready to receive soldiers of any nationality, religion or ideology.
Quote: “We address the soldiers of the Korean People’s Army who were sent to assist the Putin regime. There is no reason to senselessly die on foreign soil. Don’t follow the fate of hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers who will never return home!
Surrender as prisoners of war! Ukraine will provide you with shelter, food, and warmth. Thousands of Russian soldiers have already made the right choice and are now awaiting the end of the war in good conditions—comfortable barracks, three hot meals a day, and medical care.”
For reference: I Want to Live is a government project aimed at helping Russian soldiers safely surrender. Launched in September 2022 by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the initiative operates with support from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence and Defence Intelligence.
