Details: The energy company noted that with the onset of the autumn-winter period, Russian troops are intensifying the energy terror of Ukrainian NPPs, creating new risks for the safe operation of nuclear facilities.

Quote from Petro Kotin, Energoatom CEO: “The enemy is deliberately violating the principles of nuclear and radiation safety of nuclear power plants, resorting to outright terrorism. This must be stopped as soon as possible because the entire continent may feel the consequences.”

Background:

  • Russian Shahed drones have again violated the no-fly zone around the Pivdennoukrainsk Nuclear Power Plant, which may indicate that Russia is preparing to strike Ukrainian nuclear infrastructure.
  • A Russian strike drone was seen flying at a dangerously low height near the industrial site of the Rivne NPP on the night of 24-25 September.
  • An attack drone was spotted flying near the industrial site of the Khmelnytskyi NPP on the night of 22-23 September.
  • Power engineers have spotted more than 70 drones and more than 30 Russian cruise missiles flying near Ukrainian NPPs.
