A line for the eco-friendly recycling of destruction waste resulting from Russia’s armed aggression has commenced operations in the city of Borodianka, Kyiv Oblast.

Details: Boiko said that specialised equipment was provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

He also reported that there are currently around 4,000 destroyed sites in Kyiv Oblast needing full demolition and subsequent rebuilding as a result of the hostilities.

Quote: “The recycled materials will be utilised in the reconstruction of Kyiv Oblast, specifically in the construction of road bases, manufacturing of building materials, as fillers for building mortar or structures, or for reinforcing riverbanks.”

In 2024, it is expected that 15,000 to 20,000 tonnes of demolition waste will be processed, with plans to triple this volume to 50,000 tonnes in 2025.

The facility has begun clearing temporary storage sites for the demolition waste in the Makariv and Borodianka hromadas [a hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.].

Background: Experts from the State Audit Service recently found misappropriations amounting to UAH 19.8 million during an audit of funds allocated to Borodianka village council for reconstruction.
