Russians reportedly occupy three settlements south of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast

Russian forces continue to advance in Donetsk Oblast, particularly near the settlements of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove.

Details: Analysts noted that the Russians had advanced south of Pokrovsk and occupied Dachenske, Novyi Trud and Vovkove, which are 5-6 kilometres from the city. They also advanced near Zelene and Novovasylivka.
Near Kurakhove, Russian forces advanced in the area of Yantarne and Sontsivka.
Background:
- On 2 January, the Russians struck Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, with guided aerial bombs, destroying the yellow-and-blue city entrance monument bearing the town’s name.
- Major Viktor Trehubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group, said that Russian occupation forces were not making a frontal assault on Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, but were trying to bypass and encircle the city.
