Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has scolded Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, stressing that he should give up his imperial ambitions.

Details: Johnson underlined that the most essential message to convey to Putin is that Russia is no longer an empire.
Johnson remarked that, while the UK used to have an empire, it is now almost entirely gone, with only remnants left. He noted that the British Empire was seven times larger than the Roman Empire and the largest empire in history, but expressed satisfaction with the country’s current post-imperialist status.
He stressed that there is no need to control other countries, and “if you love someone, let them go”.
“What Putin is doing is archaic and barbaric, and he needs to understand that Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania – none of these countries are part of the Russian imperium anymore, and nor is Ukraine. It’s over,” Johnson said, adding emotionally: “No more empire, Vladimir, you fu**ing idiot!”
Johnson immediately apologised for the swearing but said: “That’s the way it is”.
Background:
- In November, Johnson urged the international community to provide Ukraine with a US$500 billion loan to help it end the war and announce when Ukraine would become a NATO member.
- He also said British troops might be deployed in Ukraine if US President-elect Donald Trump cuts military aid to Kyiv.
