Quote: “Units of the Unmanned Systems Forces, in cooperation with other units of the defence forces of Ukraine, conducted a precision strike on the Bryansk Chemical Plant in the city of Seltso, a strategic facility of the Russian military-industrial complex.”
Details: This plant produces gunpowder, explosives, and rocket fuel components, as well as ammunition for barrel artillery, multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), aircraft, Kh-59 cruise missiles, TOS-1 Tosochka multiple rocket launchers, and Zemledeliye Russian remote minelaying systems. In addition, it overhauls Grad, Uragan, and Tornado-G MLRSs.
Quote: “This operation has become a model of coordination between intelligence, missile forces, rocket artillery and unmanned systems. Drones successfully distracted Russian air defence, opening the way for missiles to hit the main targets. Long-range UAVs destroyed substations and other important infrastructure after the missile strike.”
Background:
- On the night of 13-14 January, Russian authorities reported a massive drone attack on a number of Russian oblasts, with local Telegram channels posting videos of large-scale fires at a refinery and a factory. It was noted that 12 oblasts of the Russian Federation were attacked, and there were claims that Russian air defence shot down more than a hundred drones.
- Later, the 14th Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Regiment of the Air Force of Ukraine reported that they struck an oil depot in the Russian city of Engels again, and that tanks with fuel for Tu-160 bombers were on fire as a result of the attack.
