Ukraine’s state energy company confirms Russian attack on gas infrastructure

Russia attacked Ukraine’s gas infrastructure on the morning of 15 January.

Quote: “This morning, the enemy launched further devious attacks on Ukraine’s gas infrastructure. As before, the enemy seeks to leave Ukrainians without heat and gas.”
Details: Despite the attack, all Naftogaz Group companies are operating normally.
The company added: “Gas supplies are uninterrupted. All the consequences of the enemy attack will be dealt with in the near future.”
Background:
- On the night of 14-15 January, Russia launched a combined air attack on Ukraine’s infrastructure and energy sector, firing 117 missiles and drones. The Ukrainian air defence system destroyed 77 of them.
- Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko reported that the transmission system operator had imposed preventive power supply restrictions due to the Russian missile attack.
- Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine’s energy sector on 15 January, targeting gas infrastructure, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
