The dog of Belarusian self-proclaimed president Alexander Lukashenko has urinated at the polling station where its owner cast his vote.

Details: On 26 January, Lukashenko arrived at the polling station with his spitz Umka. The dog urinated on the wall at the entrance. This moment was captured on a broadcast by Belarusian channels.

Belarusian newspaper Nasha Niva highlighted that as of 1 January 2025, Belarus has enacted a law on responsible treatment of animals. According to this legislation, pets – excluding guide dogs – are prohibited from entering shops, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. The polling station where Lukashenko voted is located within a physical education university.
