China reports on their envoy’s visit to Kyiv, calling it “frank and friendly”

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that Li Hui, Chinese Special Envoy for Eurasian Affairs, held “frank and friendly” talks in Kyiv on 7 March.

Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Fan Xianrong, Ukrainian Ambassador to China Pavlo Riabikin, Deputy Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk and other officials were present.”
Details: The Chinese Foreign Ministry reported that Li Hui ended his visit to Ukraine on the evening of the same day and left Kyiv by train.
Background:
- On the evening of 7 March, the Presidential Office reported that a briefing chaired by Yermak on the security situation in Ukraine and other topical issues was held for the Chinese delegation led by Special Envoy Li Hui.
- The Presidential Office reported that the Chinese delegation was briefed on the situation on the battlefield, the functioning of the “grain corridor”, the return of prisoners of war, the protection of the rights of civilian hostages and the return of Ukrainian children deported by Russia. The Chinese delegation was shown samples of the fragments of a downed North Korean missile.
- The parties also discussed the possibility of China’s assistance in stopping the forced deportation of Ukrainian children, exchanging prisoners, demilitarising and liberating the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, ensuring nuclear safety and other international initiatives of Ukraine.
