Croatia will acquire state-of-the-art Leopard 2A8 tanks in exchange for the military equipment it transfers to Ukraine, as outlined in a memorandum of intent signed by Ivan Anušić, Croatia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. Anušić has expressed optimism that the implementation of this project will commence “shortly”.

Details: Under the memorandum, Croatia has committed to supplying 30 M-84 tanks and 30 M-80 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), along with spare parts and ammunition, in exchange for financial support to purchase up to 50 Leopard 2A8 tanks.
The overall cost of the new Leopard 2A8 tanks is anticipated to be lowered by the amount that Germany will pay Croatia for the transfer of its military equipment to Ukraine.
“All other details will be revealed after the contract is signed. The additional value of this procurement model is to help Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression,” the Croatian Defence Ministry said in a statement.
