DeepState identifies Russian commander who ordered beheading of Ukrainian soldier

A team of DeepState analysts, in cooperation with a unit of the Ukrainian defence forces, has identified the Russian commander who ordered his subordinates to behead a Ukrainian captive in June 2024.

Details: The analysts say that the Russian soldier with the alias “Sber” is the commander of the assault company of the Storm detachment of the 394th Motor Rifle Regiment of the 5th Combined Arms Army’s 127th Motor Rifle Division.

His name is Dmitry Anatolyevich Chikhabakh, born on 14 December 1989. He appears to live at one of the following addresses:

  •     Primorsky Krai, Spassky District, Stary Klyuch railway station, 4-A Rozdolnaya Street;
  •     Primorsky Krai, Ussuriysk, Tikhiy Lane, 10, apartment 65.

Chikhabakh has likely ordered numerous brutal beheadings.

Quote: “17 June 2024: Journalists released an audio recording of Chikhabakh’s order to behead a Ukrainian captive and publicly display his head.

27 November 2024: An order is given to cut off the head of a dead Ukrainian soldier.

1 December 2024: An order is given to capture, interrogate and then shoot a Ukrainian soldier, after which his head must be cut off.”

Details: According to the database, in 2006, he escaped from orphanage No. 2 in the city of Ussuriysk. In 2011, Chikhabakh was arrested for drug possession.

His criminal record includes other convictions under Articles 158 (theft), 159 (fraud) and 119 (death threats).

Background: Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, said that the number of cases of executions of Ukrainian soldiers by the Russians in 2024 was nearly double that of the preceding two years of the war.
